Smart Analytics 9.5x: configure to improve the search accuracy for Japanese


Recently, I have worked with one Japanese customer who wanted to improve the accuracy of Smart Search using Japanese. The truth is he is a PS guy and really be good at customizing; he has given me the way he did to increase Japanese searching. In this post, I am sharing those awesome steps that may be useful if you are about to implement the same.

1. Stop the Smart Analytics service on the Smart Analytics server.
C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Service Manager 9.51\SmartAnalytics\scripts\stop.bat

2. Edit the following config files on the Smart Analytics server.
C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Service Manager 9.51\SmartAnalytics\IDOL\IDOLServer.cfg
C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Service Manager 9.51\SmartAnalytics\Content1\Content1.cfg
C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Service Manager 9.51\SmartAnalytics\Content2\Content2.cfg
C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Service Manager 9.51\SmartAnalytics\Content3\Content3.cfg

<Changed parameters>
[LanguageTypes]
DefaultLanguageType=japaneseUTF8

[japanese]
Encodings=UTF8:japaneseUTF8
Stoplist=japanese.dat
NGram=2
NGramMultiByteOnly=True
Stemming=True
Normalise=true

3. Start the Smart Analytics service on the Smart Analytics server.
C:\Program Files (x86)\HPE\Service Manager 9.51\SmartAnalytics\scripts\start.bat

4. Run the “Full Reindex” on the Service Manager server.
System Administration > Ongoing Maintenance > Smart Analytics > Smart Search > Knowledge_Library
