Restore table in HP Service Manager

database_restore

In my working experience, I have one case that customer accidentally deleted the probsummary dbdict and couldn’t restore it. Here is the steps that I guided them to restore the table

After you deleted the probsummary dbdict, it will delete the related records in dbdictm1, datadictm1, datadictn1 also; then now you need to restore those records in there as well

Action plan:

1. After restoring the db backup in another place, please use these queries to view the data:

SELECT * FROM DBDICTM1 WHERE NAME = ‘probsummary’

SELECT * FROM DATADICTM1 WHERE NAME = ‘probsummary’

SELECT * FROM DATADICTN1 WHERE NAME = ‘probsummary’

2. Go back to PROD db, use the following queries to insert the records:

INSERT INTO DBDICTM1 (DESCRIPTOR,NAME) VALUES (,’ ’,’probsummary’)

INSERT INTO DATADICTM1 (DESCRIPTOR,NAME,SYSTEM,TYPE,SQLBASENAME,SC_MANAGE_SCREEN,LOCALIZEDTABLE) VALUES (‘ ‘,’probsummary’,'<value in bk>’,”,'<value in bk>’,’ ‘,’ ‘)

INSERT INTO DATADICTN1 (NAME) VALUES (‘probsummary’)

NOTE: please kindly back up your current DB before making and changes in prod. Also, the above action plan should work, however, if any serious problems, please kindly consider to backup your PROD to the good state db backup .
